We're stronger together for children and learning

We are 47,000 principals, teachers and support staff who work in primary, area and secondary schools as well as early childhood centres, special education and school advisory services.

We come together as NZEI Te Riu Roa to fight for quality public education—because every child is worth it.

What's happening

Fair's fair. We're equals.

Early childhood teachers, support staff, and thousands of other women have been undervalued for too long. Historic pay equity claims for ECE and support staff are happening now.

It's Time, Kua Tae Te Wā

It's time to free teachers to teach so every child receives the personal attention they need to learn and thrive. It's time to free principals to focus on leading. And it's time to ensure we have enough teachers by attracting more people to teaching, by respecting them as professionals and paying them properly.
